Donately is a hosted donation platform sold three ways: a pay-as-you-go platform percentage, a lower percentage on a monthly plan, or no platform percentage if you prepay, with every feature available on all three.

As of September 2026, Donately publishes a 4% platform fee pay-as-you-go with no commitment, 2% on a $99 monthly plan, or 0% if you prepay $5,000 for up to $1M raised, with payment processing charged separately on all three and every feature available on every plan. DonatoTomato is a flat 1% per donation, no monthly plan and nothing to prepay. On a $100 card gift at the 2.2% + $0.30 nonprofit processing rate Donately's own FAQ cites, the pay-as-you-go route comes to $6.50 in fees against $3.50 with us, or $4.20 with us at Stripe's standard rate. Which route is cheapest depends on how much you raise and how much you are willing to commit up front, so the fee is worth working out on your own numbers before you choose.

The prepay route is the one that can cost less than 1%: $5,000 covers up to $1M raised, so it beats our 1% once you raise more than $500,000 against it, and works out to 0.5% at the full $1M.
Neither. No subscription, no setup fee, no contract and no minimum. In a month when nobody donates, DonatoTomato costs your organization nothing at all.
Donors can add the card processing fee to their gift. That line is opt-in, never pre-checked, and labeled for exactly what it covers. Our 1% is paid by your organization and is never added to a donor's total.
Yes. Donations land directly in your own Stripe account; you are the merchant of record. DonatoTomato never holds your funds.
No. The only optional add-on at checkout is clearly labeled as covering the card processing fee, and it is never framed as a tip. There is no separate ask that funds DonatoTomato.
